Over the last few months, Sport have linked Ivan Rakitic with Manchester United once every two to three weeks.
The first report cropped up in May before the second report was pushed out on June 11th, suggesting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ‘no doubt’ the Barcelona midfielder will be an important player at Old Trafford.
At the end of June, it was claimed the Red Devils had made a ‘serious approach’ for the Croatia international.
Sport now brings another update about Rakitic. The front page of the Catalan newspaper states it’s a ‘priority’ for the La Liga winners to sell him to raise funds, even though his desire is to continue at the Camp Nou.
His salary is too high at Barca and clubs in England and Italy are attentive to his situation.
It’s claimed United have ‘openly shown their interest’ in the former Sevilla man.
With two years left on his contract, Barcelona believe they can obtain €50m from the 31 year old’s sale.
It’s to be noted that only Sport have been pushing Rakitic towards Manchester United, while there have not been any concrete claims from other Spanish newspapers or British publications about United’s interest in the player.
