Manchester United have confirmed Ander Herrera has decided to leave the club as a free agent and with that, he now joins Marouane Fellaini as midfielders to leave the club in this calendar year.

The future of Paul Pogba remains uncertain as he continues to attract interest from Real Madrid.

Friday’s edition of Sport claims reports in England have put the Red Devils ‘in pole position’ for Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his side’s midfield in the summer.

Ernesto Valverde’s side are demanding at least €55m for their player, who still has two years left on his contract at Camp Nou.

Though there is no agreement between the Spanish champions and the English club, Sport believes Rakitic’s future ‘seems to be heading for the Premier League’ even though there is interest from Inter Milan.

Will Manchester United be prepared to pay anything like €55m for a player who will turn 32 years of age midway through next season? Perhaps not, although Barca probably hope they will.
