Friday appeared to be day when Matteo Darmian to Juventus could finally be completed, but no, it wasn’t to be.
The Manchester United defender has been so very close to leaving Old Trafford for about two months now, yet he remains José Mourinho’s player for the time being.
The reason behind this, it appears, is the Premier League club’s fault, who continue to ask for an elevated price tag Juventus aren’t prepared to pay.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A champions refuse to pay more than €12m, while the Red Devils are asking for the ‘Everest’ that is €20m.
Considering Darmian hasn’t had the best of times in the north of England, is three years older and barely featured last season, it seems a bit much from Manchester United to ask for all of their money back, but that’s where things stand for now.
Gazzetta state that while the deal appears to be on the decline for now, it isn’t just yet.
There’s still a lot of transfer window to go, and with Italian footballers World Cup free, there’s no time restriction, either.
