Manchester United’s chase for AS Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell is becoming a strong rumour in the European media this week, where multiple reports speak of the Red Devils’ interest in the official.
On Tuesday morning, it was journalist Florian Plettenberg who claimed that Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag are both ‘pushing’ with a ‘strong recommendation’ to get him signed.
Now as Foot Mercato features an update on Mitchell’s situation at Monaco, claiming the Ligue 1 side are not firing him this summer, they still point out the interest from Manchester United in landing him.
It’s claimed the Red Devils had already approached him in the past, and ‘remain interested’ in his arrival.
Regarding his job at Monaco, the report claims that the director is yet to make a decision regarding his future, pointing out the choice of staying at the French side or moving to England in his hands.
Besides Manchester United, Foot Mercato points out that a couple of other Premier League clubs have been interested in Mitchell as well. Newcastle first made an approach for him in December, and ‘one of the candidates for the takeover of Chelsea’ would like him at Stamford Bridge.
