Paul Mitchell has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United, with claims going back more than a year.
Those claims kicked off again in recent days, with varying degrees of certainty given to the idea of interest from Old Trafford.
Currently sporting director at AS Monaco, Mitchell has experience of working in the Premier League. He was credited with multiple impressive signings whilst at Tottenham Hotspur, and that helped build his reputation.
Florian Plettenbrrg now reports Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag are ‘pushing’ to get Mitchell to Manchester United. It’s also claimed he’d be open to leaving Monaco in the coming months.
Rangnick and Ten Hag have made a ‘strong recommendation’ to those above them at Old Trafford, wanting Mitchell to arrive as technical director. Plettenberg adds that not everyone in leadership roles at United is convinced by the idea.
Quite where Mitchell would fit into the current set-up isn’t clear. The club already have John Murtough, and Rangnick is expected to stick around as a consultant.
Darren Fletcher is currently technical director.
