Manchester United loanee Facundo Pellistri on Thursday had a word with the press from his home country, as he was interviewed by Uruguay’s Radio Sport 890.

The winger mostly talked about the season he’s been having at La Liga side Alavés, where he’s not getting all the playing time he wanted. He says Uruguay manager Diego Alonso has been helping him to get over that.

“Sometimes one gets frustrated for not having minutes, I try to support myself in my family. Diego (Alonso) helped me a lot, he gave me confidence, that makes me feel better and full because you never know when the opportunity will come,” Pellistri told Sport 890.

Pellistri also talked about his plans for the future, making it clear he only wants to play more.

“When the season ends with Alavés I have to go back to Manchester, do the preseason and then see what I do. The best thing for me would be to find a team that allows me to have as many minutes as possible.

“Today the priority that I give to my future is to have minutes, if it is in Manchester it would be a dream, otherwise I will have to look for another team to achieve that.”

Facundo Pellistri was signed by Manchester United in a €8.5m deal from Penarol back in 2020. With no chances to make his debut for the Red Devils in his first months at the club, he was loaned to Alavés in January 2021.

The deal was extended last summer, this time for an entire year. And even though he managed to make 23 appearances for the La Liga side this season, he’s still to have a starting spot in the team, and hasn’t scored or made any assists so far.

That’s why it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Manchester United loaning him out again next summer.
