There’s a feeling at Corriere dello Sport that with every day that goes by, Tahith Chong edges closer to Inter.
The young Dutchman is now widely expected to run down his contract at Manchester United, and after many efforts, there were reports the Serie A side felt confident they had the player in their grasp for next season.
That stance has once again been reinforced by the Italian newspaper, and there’s once again the belief that if Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio manage to tie everything up and make the move official, they will send Chong to a ‘friendly club’ to get him some game time.
That won’t be to China, but Hellas Verona are mentioned, since they play a 3-4-2-1 that is similar to what Conte uses at Inter and could help the 20-year-old get used to Serie A while getting used to everything that’s new around him.
Furthermore, it’s explained that Chong has ‘said no’ to Barcelona’s project, who seemingly came forward to try and convince him to move to Catalonia.
However, it seems the forward is preferring Italy to Spain at the moment, but that still isn’t set in stone.
There’s still time for someone else to come in and change their mind, but with four months left and a renewal already allegedly turned away, it doesn’t seem like it will be Manchester United.
