Tahith Chong’s current deal at Manchester United runs down in the summer and various reports coming out of Italy are suggesting the winger could join Inter Milan on a free transfer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided the youngster with several opportunities in the first team, and the 20-year-old has mostly struggled to impress.
However, the Dutchman has been able to have an impact outside the pitch, especially on his compatriot, Dillon Hoogewerf.
Hoogewerf left Ajax for the Red Devils last summer and speaking to Voetbal International, he admitted it was difficult for him to leave Eredivisie winners for United. The 17-year-old has now revealed how Chong has helped him to settle and improve at the English club.
“We talk occasionally, he gives me good advice about what I can do better,” Hoogewerf told Voetbal International, as relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
“For example, I was sitting on the bench with the U23s during a cup competition and then he said: ‘the reason other people come for you is because you have to have an attitude. Everyone knows that you can play well and are usually better than your teammates, but your attitude must improve’.”
Hoogewerf aims to get into the first team picture as soon as possible, although the 17 year old doesn’t appear close to a debut yet.
