Since the start of the Pedro Gonçalves saga, the rumours have been made of comings and goings between the English and the Portuguese media.
We have another episode today, when newspaper A Bola responds to the stories which have been out this week.
Following claims that Manchester United are interested in signing Pote from Sporting in the summer, the newspaper features a short article saying it won’t be cheap to take him away from Alvalade.
A Bola writes that the Lions have no intention of letting Pote go in the next transfer window, and that means that any interested club will have to trigger his €60m release clause to get him.
This is information which had been previously claimed by newspaper Record, so it’s getting pretty clear that the word in Portugal is that Pote’s exit isn’t something they’re looking to negotiate.
Just yesterday, we’ve also featured a story showing that claims from the Lisbon media are being mistranslated, with the English press exaggerating when saying the Red Devils are close to signing the winger.
Basically, the warning means negotiations should be rather straightforward: either Manchester United put up €60m or they don’t get the player.
