It’s been a surprisingly quiet day all around Europe, and the Champions League fixtures on Tuesday probably have something to do with that, but, not being in the competition and all that, there was still a lot of Manchester United news to cover.

Joel Pereira already wants to return to Manchester United

It all started with an interview in O Jogo from the young goalkeeper making a name for himself in his home country on loan at Belenenses.

The player revealed it was Mourinho’s idea to send him out on loan in order to ‘enjoy himself, learn and play as much football as possible’.

Pereira also discussed the club’s current situation and his chances of getting first-team football at the club in the near future.

Rummenigge pipes up again about Schweinsteiger

We get it. Bastian Schweinsteiger is well respected in Germany, and the whole saga of him being left out is a bit confusing, but it seems Rummenigge just can’t help himself.

The Bayern Munich boss told Bild a January transfer might be the best option for Schweini, which we all already know, and there was perhaps no need for the comments at all.

It doesn’t exactly affect him, does it?

Either way, we look at the whole thing in more depth here.

Darmian stories don’t want to go away

The Manchester United right-back isn’t exactly a regular under Mourinho, and only got a start at the weekend because of Antonio Valencia’s injury.

Continuing their ongoing story, Calciomercato claim Darmian has already given his approval to a transfer back to Serie A, which could be either a loan with a view to buy or a full transfer.

Mourinho’s isn’t having any of this, though, and has decided to get involved personally.

Find out why, and the numbers discussed, here.

Gelson Martins in contract renewal talks

We’ve been covering the Portuguese press a lot recently, and Gelson Martins has been a big part of that.

A lot of clubs are interested in the 21-year-old, and Sporting want to ensure he doesn’t leave for a ‘measly’ €60m, which is his current release clause.

Manchester United are said to be the most interested, and the ones being taken seriously by Sporting, meaning a new release clause is being worked on.

Find out how much here.

Arsenal fans not happy with Vieira’s latest comments

The former defensive midfielder gave an interview to France Football for their weekly magazine, and he’s managed to ostracise himself a bit more with his recent comments.

He explained he drew some inspiration from José Mourinho and wanted to shadow Pep Guardiola, as well as Mauricio Pochettino, in order to improve as a manager (he’s the head coach of New York City FC).

As you can imagine, that hasn’t gone down too well with Arsenal fans.
