Ajax star Jurrien Timber has admitted he is open to a move away from the club this summer amid Manchester United’s interest in him.
The Dutchman has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Europe at this moment in time after a season of starring for Ajax in both the Eredivisie and Europe.
He’s swiftly been linked with a move to Manchester United as a result, with it believed new manager Erik ten Hag is keen to bring him to Old Trafford as part of his summer rebuild.
Such a move to Manchester United would be a big step up for the 20-year-old, given he only made his debut for Ajax in March 2020.
The Dutch club have been the perfect proving ground for him, with them a club renowned for their ability to develop talent and give them the time to reach their full potential.
Indeed, there is an argument Timber would be best served staying where he is for the time being, and that is something he’s aware of, although not completely in agreement with.
“Of course, I can develop myself further there. I know that 100% for sure. I do not feel that I am ready at the club. But at other clubs, I can also develop,” he told De Telegraaf, relayed by Ajax 1.
“The picture has to be right. You can go to a big club, but if you’re not going to play there, it’s better to stay at Ajax.
“And Ajax is also a big club. We play in the Champions League, and I play there together with the best players of the Netherlands. That’s not nothing.”
