After the FFP deadline that saw Inter Milan gain some breathing room in the Ivan Perisic operation when they managed to meet the required criteria, a new ‘deadline’ of sorts was set regarding a potential move to Manchester United for the Croatia international: his return for preseason.
That day was Monday, when the player arrived in time to join his teammates and Luciano Spalletti ahead of the preparation for next season, and Tuttosport see this as the time when everything could either go in the Red Devils’ favour, or see everything come to a halt.
As explained previously, everything now seems to rest on the conversation between Ivan Perisic and his new manager.
Basically, if the Manchester United target walks into that office and says he wants to move to Old Trafford, then Inter will do what they’ve done so far, which is stand their ground on the fee they’ve set (Tuttosport see it as €54m).
This means there’s a €9m gap between that valuation and what José Mourinho’s side have offered so far (€45m), which the Suning Group see as a ‘mountain’, as they want to come across as tough negotiators who won’t be pushed around in the transfer market.
It’s all much of the same, but with the player now back from his holiday, things could either speed up considerably or slow down to a near complete halt.
It’s up to Perisic.
