Tuesday’s report from Brazilian outlet UOL reported Everton and Liverpool have joined Manchester United in the race for Eder Militao.
It was also explained that Real Madrid are making a strong effort to sign the FC Porto defender, but he would prefer a move to England.
Earlier today, we covered a report from Marca, who claimed the 21-year-old could imminently agree a move to Madrid.
The deal could be settled in a few days, because the Champions League winners don’t want to lose out the defender to Manchester United or Barcelona.
Another Spanish newspaper, AS ,also has an update about the centre-back in Friday’s edition of the newspaper and they say Real Madrid are considering paying his €50m release clause and allowing him to stay with the Portuguese outfit until the end of the season.
The 13-time European champions have been in contact with player’s agent and there’s a verbal agreement to close the deal.
Juni Calafat was key in helping the La Liga outfit sign Vinicius and Rodrygo and is now tasked with bringing their compatriot to the club.
AS also reports United, along with Liverpool and Chelsea, have taken the possibility of signing Militao ‘very seriously’ and it was taken for granted that centre-half’s future would be in the Premier League.
However, Real Madrid’s entry to the scene has changed the dynamics and Militao is now close to Real Madrid.
If Manchester United or any other English club are planning to sign Militao, they need to act quickly.
Update:
Militao’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci spoke to AS regarding the recent reports linking his client to Real Madrid.
He said: “We do not rule out that he signs for Real Madrid…”
