It’s been a while since Manchester United started being linked to Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, and now it seems the Red Devils are taking further steps on their interest.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the Old Trafford side are now sending a scout to watch the 25-year-old on Thursday night.
Dembele will be observed in the Europa League clash against FC Porto. Following the 1-1 draw in Portugal, he’ll now have the chance to qualify Lyon to the quarter-finals.
Foot Mercato points out this isn’t the first time Manchester United watch Dembele, as they’d previously done in the match against Lorient and that first leg against the Dragons.
Manchester United, however, aren’t alone in the race for the striker. The report claims the game will draw the presence of scouts from other Premier League sides, who are also keeping an eye on the player.
Since Dembele’s contract with Lyon expires in 2023, the French side will certainly be concerned about his situation this summer, which could force them into a sale.
It’s said the Red Devils have been interested in the player for a long time, making approaches ‘on many occasions’, and now have him in their list to rebuild their attack for the next season.
This is the usual pattern with Dembele ahead of every transfer window, going back some years. Big Premier League clubs are linked and then not much happens with regards to a move.
