Over the past couple week or so, we’ve seen a resurgence in the number of stories sending Federico Chiesa to England.
Manchester United tend to be the name attached to the right-winger, for good reason, and La Nazione on Monday made it very clear how badly the Premier League club supposedly wanted the forward.
They said their offer of €50-60m was ‘close, very close’ to the asking price set by Fiorentina, and there was a feeling that if they came forward with a €60m ‘take it or leave it’, the Serie A club could find it hard to say no.
Fast forward 24 hours, and the same newspaper continue their ‘agenda’, if you want to call it that, reminding their readers that Manchester United are providing ‘very strong competition’ for the Italian clubs interested in Chiesa.
Over at Corriere Fiorentino, the suggestion the star could leave is also there, but only if a club is willing to pay the ‘fixed price set’ by the club: €60m.
Down the player’s end, Chiesa ‘hasn’t asked to be sold’, but nor has he ‘asked to want to renew his contract’.
However, talks between the player’s father, Enrico, and Fiorentina have taken place, and there’s hope club and player will be able to sit down ‘next week’ and have a more in depth chat.
The big question remains whether or not Chiesa will want to move to England if the right offer is made, and, as of yet, the player hasn’t said anything on the matter.
