Well, this is a strange one.
The Italian website claim on Tuesday that Manchester United are preparing a ‘monster offer’ for Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos, which would reach the £42m mark.
We thought this might be coming from Spain, but that doesn’t appear to be the case as no one has made such ridiculous claims over there, not even Don Balon from what we can see (although their website appears to be down at the moment).
If you’d forgotten or decided to wipe the whole Louis van Gaal era from your mind on purpose, the Spanish defender was reportedly a big target for the Premier League club back in 2015, but, as appeared to be the custom back then, he ended up signing a new contract with Real Madrid.
As trigger happy as Calciomercato are with their articles, this is a bit over the top for them, and we’re not quite sure what’s happened here.
