Barely used by Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, Nemanja Matić looks destined for a transfer sooner rather than later.
With a contract running out in the summer, the Serbia international is more than likely to leave on a free come July, but the Premier League club could choose to cash in while they still can in January should an offer land on their desk.
For a month or so, it seemed Inter and his former manager, Antonio Conte, would give him the exit ramp he was looking for in January, but things have changed a bit since.
While a few outlets claimed the ex-Chelsea manager would be happy to work with the defensive midfielder once again, that isn’t the case anymore, with Corriere dello Sport claiming Matić ‘doesn’t excite’ Conte.
We already knew this from a previous report from the same newspaper, but what’s changed here is that they now say the Manchester United player ‘seems to be heading to the Emirates’.
By that, we’re guessing they mean the United Arab Emirates rather than Arsenal’s stadium, and so it could be Matić is in for a warm retirement plan this January.
One to keep an eye on.
