Manchester United have rejected an approach from Roma for Diogo Dalot as Erik ten Hag has given him ‘reassurances’ for next season.

That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say the new Manchester United manager has other plans for the Portuguese defender.

Roma are keen to strengthen their squad for Jose Mourinho this summer, with their success in the Conference League giving him greater power at the club.

A move for Dalot would make sense given his successful loan spell in Italy in the past; something which has seen them retain an interest over the last year.

However, it seems an attempt to make a deal happen has been rebuffed by Manchester United, who aren’t interested in letting him go.

According to Corriere’s information, the full-back has ‘had reassurances’ from Ten Hag about his role next season.

What that means isn’t made clear, but our guess would be that United’s new manager has told the player he will be a part of his plans, and so he’s not going to push for an exit.

That leaves Roma looking at alternative options, and Corriere even say that teammate Aaron Wan Bissaka is ‘more attackable’ but would cost a lot more.

Either way, a move for Dalot is now seemingly off of the cards as Manchester United want him in their squad next season.
