Paul Pogba was keen on making a switch to Real Madrid last summer, but Manchester United didn’t allow their star player leave Old Trafford.
Added to that, Madrid didn’t seem to try too hard or try at all.
Zinedine Zidane, who had been a big backer of the signings, then used Federico Valverde in the starting XI and he’s so far impressed for the 13-time European champions.
Tuesday’s edition of Sport claims the Uruguay international’s ‘explosion eclipses’ Real Madrid’s interest in the Red Devils player.
Valverde has impressed with his physical and technical attributes and therefore, it ‘discourages’ the Spanish giants from signing Pogba.
Sport’s online edition provides further updates as they state Zidane’s side no longer view the World Cup winner as a ‘necessity’, despite being short of options in midfield.
In addition to this, Real Madrid have stopped being excited about Pogba because of his ongoing friction with United.
Pogba is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and is expected to return to action in February.
