As Manchester United defender Eric Bailly continues to be linked to Italian clubs, we now get to see an update regarding AS Roma’s pursuit for the 28-year-old.
Calcio Mercato feature a piece on potential signings the Giallorossi may make before the end of the transfer window. One of them is Paris Saint Germain’s Georginio Wijnaldum, and the other is the Red Devils defender.
With Roma looking to land the Dutch midfielder on loan with a clause to buy for €10m, depending on performance goals, it’s said Bailly ‘can arrive’ at the club ‘with the same formula’. That way, Manchester United would continue to pay ‘a large part’ of his salary during the spell.
There are also similarities in both chases regarding some social media issues. Calcio Mercato points out Wijnaldum has removed all of his pictures with PSG’s shirt, and they claim Bailly has been liking AS Roma’s posts.
Those are seen as a ‘fundamental sign’ the pair are keen.
And as Giallorossi president Dan Friedkin went to Paris to sort out Wijnaldum’s transfer, it’s said it’s ‘rumoured’ that he’d extend the route to England to speak to the Red Devils about the Ivorian.
Roma Giallorossa have a story about his trip. They claim the official is ‘moving very concretely’ to take the defender from Old Trafford, stating José Mourinho wants him, also mentioning the chance of a loan with an option to buy.
Bailly only made seven appearances for Manchester United last season, and following the arrival of Lisandro Martinez, it’s unlikely his situation will improve.
