A Bola have launched a claim of Benfica interest in Marc-Oliver Kempf, and to make it sound more exciting, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have also been dragged into the picture.
Kempf is a 22 year old defender currently playing for Bundesliga side SC Freiburg.
Crucially for Benfica, Kempf has a contract ending in June of next year, so the Portuguese club would be looking at a potential free transfer next summer, or bargain deal in the January window.
Manchester United have a ‘better financial argument’ to sign the player, according to A Bola, on account of them being a richer club who spend more on wages. If the interest from Old Trafford, and Bayern, is serious then it would make things very difficult for Benfica.
At this stage, any interest from Manchester United looks like it’s there to dramatise the situation and talk Kempf up.
Moving to Manchester United may not be best for the player’s development, given the competition the youngster would be up against for first team football.
