No matter how long we’ll cover the transfer window, we’ll always be amazed at how quickly things can change in the transfer window.
Just a couple of days ago, Corriere dello Sport had a whole page dedicated to the fact Luciano Spalletti really wanted Manchester United’s under-performing Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
On Friday, he’s barely mentioned, with his name appearing right at the end of an article with “complicated” written in brackets after it.
Thankfully, Gazzetta dello Sport have a bit more information on why that’s the case in their edition, explaining that, as things stand, it’s the player’s wages that are the root of the problem.
Considering Inter knew about the Manchester United forward’s wages prior to all this, it sounds to us like the Red Devils have just said no and now the Serie A side are trying to find an excuse, as it’s been well documented that José Mourinho would only consider letting the Armenian go if he was sold outright, with a loan not part of his plans for the player.
This seems to be dying down early, which means it’ll probably come back with a bang on Monday.
That’s how this stuff works.
