Jadon Sancho has been a priority target for Manchester United for several months, but the Red Devils are facing difficulties iconvincing Borussia Dortmund to sanction his sale.
Over the past few days, reports about the Old Trafford club’s interest in Ousmane Dembélé have intensified and the winger wouldn’t be against the idea of leaving Barcelona.
The 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Camp Nou and Ronald Koeman has hinted he hasn’t chosen the Frenchman because of his lack of defensive contribution.
Koeman wants his side to bring in Memphis Depay, but it’s ‘unfeasible’ for the Catalan club to sign the Lyon forward without Dembélé’s exit, according to Mundo Deportivo.
In the last two days of the transfer window, Barca, United and Lyon are playing their cards, involving the Netherlands international and the World Cup winner.
It’s claimed all parties ‘continue to play their cards in what seems like a poker game’, and this involves United trying to sign the Barca wideman.
Mundo once again explains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side view Dembélé as an alternative to Sancho, which is why they will only look to sign him on a loan deal. However, this transfer formula ‘does not please’ either the player or the La Liga side.
On Saturday, Cadena Ser reported Dembélé will not be leaving the club, but Mundo states at Barcelona, they have ‘no news from the Frenchman, neither positive nor negative’.
Depay remains a transfer objective for Koeman and the former can only be signed if United sign Dembélé.
If Barca were to sign Depay, they may have to change their stance on Dembélé and allow him to join United on a loan deal.
