Fotospor report Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus central defender Merih Demiral ahead of the January transfer window.
It’s reported the 21 year old caught the eye of United scouts during his impressive performance against France on Monday night and the Turkish website claims the Premier League giants could strengthen their defence by signing him.
Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s primary focus is likely to bring in a striker, Fotospor report United are still in the market for a central defender to partner Harry Maguire and Demiral could be their man.
He’s previously said his childhood idol was Nemanja Vidic, and Fotospor claim he’s waiting for an offer from the English side.
The former Fenerbahce academy product left his boyhood club in 2016 to join Sporting and after that he moved to Alanyaspor on a loan deal.
His impressive displays whilst as Alanyaspor earned him a move to Serie A club Sassoulo before signing for Juventus this summer for €18m.
Despite his age he’s now become an important member of the Turkish national team, but he may want to play more regular first-team football during the second half of the season.
Demiral is under contract at Juventus until June 2024.
