Man United could get centre-back for as little as €45m – Club need ‘clean cut’ in wage bill this summer

Even with some improved form this season, few would argue against another centre-back arriving at Manchester United in the summer.

Big names continue to be linked, with the latest being a rekindling of a long-held interest in Inter’s Milan Škriniar, and now we have a return of a Kalidou Koulibaly mention.

It comes from local Napoli newspaper Il Mattino, who look at the player’s situation and Bayern Munich’s alleged interest in the Senegalese.

Despite already signing Dayot Upamecano, it’s said the Bavarians ‘seem to be one of the teams most interested in the future’ of the player, who was a wanted man last summer.

Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for him, and that is likely to be the same in the coming months, especially with Napoli ‘having to make a clean cut in salaries’.

With Koulibaly earning €7m/year, a sale could go a long way in alleviating the wage bill, and which is why ‘Bayern Munich’s approximately €45m offer could also be considered’.

It’s not been made yet, but it’s felt the desire to sign him is there, and the Bundesliga side ‘want to anticipate English clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool for next summer’.

That suggests both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jürgen Klopp still have an eye on Koulibaly, and with a price tag seemingly far lower than previous years, we may actually see the centre-back move.
