On Wednesday, news emerged from Belgium that AS Roma had taken a strong interest in the signing of Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj.

The Belgian forward, who was pushed to one side at Old Trafford by both Louis Van Gaal and José Mourinho, has apparently been told he can leave by the club, not fitting in the Portuguese manager’s plans for next season.

Talk of a move to Real Sociedad, one of David Moyes’ former clubs, was rife, and United were prepared to offer him on a season long loan with an option to buy, but Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium say that has been discarded by the Januzaj clan.

According to the Belgian outlet, the player’s entourage have decided it’s time for him to leave Old Trafford permanently via a full transfer without a buyback option, and nothing else.

This, ideally, isn’t what Manchester United want, as they know the player is still a popular figure at the club, and some still believe in his qualities, but for the Januzajs, the adventure with the Red Devils has come to an end.

For other clubs, the prospect of signing him permanently is far more attractive than bringing him on a loan, and a lot of teams are waiting on the sidelines, including Roma, Lyon, Marseille, Monaco, Inter and AC Milan.

Not a bad list for a young player who had a relatively poor season last year, managing just the one goal and three assists in 28 appearances.

Het Nieuwsblad seem to think Manchester United would want somewhere in between €10-15m for the 22-year-old, even if he only has one year left on his current deal at Old Trafford.

Even if fans aren’t too happy about it, this one seems to be happening.
