Even if they are currently third in Serie A, in line to qualify for the Champions League, it appears Inter are keen to try something new, which involves bringing in Antonio Conte to replace Luciano Spalletti.
With a new manager would also come new players, as well as exits, of which Mauro Icardi might be one of the prime casualties (with Atlético Madrid reportedly interested).
This means replacing the Argentine, and, as has already been touted many times, Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku is one of the options, alongside Edin Dzeko and Duvan Zapata.
We already covered a similar story on Friday from La Repubblica, yet Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday explain the transfer is also something the Belgian is actively thinking about.
The newspaper state Lukaku is ‘longing to try’ an experience in Italy, which would suggest he’d be open to a move in the summer if the opportunity arose.
With this in mind, Gazzetta explain that Piero Ausilio, Inter’s director of football, travelling to England to watch Tottenham-Manchester City might be part of a longer trip with talks regarding the Manchester United striker.
Of course, he could simply be there to watch football and return to Milan, but that wouldn’t make for a fun story now, would it?
