You would think that being the main striker under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, finally playing regularly in the role he wants, would keep Anthony Martial out of the transfer rumours, but that isn’t the case.

Gazzetta dello Sport are the culprits on Friday, throwing the Frenchman’s name among potential targets for Inter should Lautaro Martínez be sold for a hefty fee in the coming months.

The former Monaco starlet is one of four players who would fit the bill, as Victor Osimhen, Luka Jović and Timo Werner are also brought up.

The German takes centre-stage, mostly because he has a release clause in his contract this summer of €60m, meaning his price is fixed, which is easier.

As for Martial, Gazzetta are very aware the situation has changed for the 24-year-old compared to last year, as his newfound role in the middle of Manchester United’s attack makes him a far more difficult player to buy.

The Old Trafford side are unlikely to want to sell him, especially so soon after renewing his deal until 2025 (2024 with an option for a further year).

Still, the Italian newspaper estimate his value at around €60m, which seems a bit low in our books, especially when you take into account the fact Martial had score a goal every two games or so (11 in 23 appearances) in the Premier League so far this season, which is his best return in a Manchester United shirt since his expensive arrival from Monaco in 2015.

We’re just letting you know the story is there, but we doubt anything will come from it, so if you see being hyped up somewhere else, you know where it’s come from and what it actually says.
