After weeks of negotiating, Alexis Sánchez’s loan deal from Manchester United to Inter is on the verge of happening, as it was announced on Tuesday evening in the English press an agreement had been reached.
Unlike previous reporting, mostly from the Italian media, the deal taking the Chile international to San Siro isn’t expected to include an option to buy, meaning he will be expected to return to Old Trafford once the season-long temporary spell comes to an end.
However, that doesn’t mean there no chance of the forward staying in Italy beyond his initial loan, as Gazzetta dello Sport explain the two sides will sit down next year for a new set of negotiations regarding an eventual purchase of the 30-year-old.
They state the man to thank for getting the deal over the line is Fernando Felicevich, Sánchez’s agent, who acted both as representative and intermediary between the two sides.
Inter will take on around €5m of the Manchester United player’s wages, which is also echoed by Corriere dello Sport, who add the Chilean is expected in Milan on Wednesday to undergo his medical ahead of signing the contract tying him to the Serie A side for the next few months.
This one, bar an unexpected turn of events, is expected to go through, leaving a few question marks when it comes to the Old Trafford club’s depth up top for the foreseeable future, having already sold Romelu Lukaku and now loaning Sánchez without replacing either with at least one first-team ready player.
