Even though Manchester United are not strongly linked to River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez, it’s interesting how the Red Devils continue to be named in the stories about the player.
Those claims are being made by the Argentine and Portuguese media, as Benfica recently engaged in a strong pursuit for the 21-year-old.
With the Eagles going to South America and trying to sign the midfielder for less than his €20m release clause, the negotiations continue, and we get to see Manchester United named in two stories today. One from A Bola and one from Record.
In the one written by A Bola, they point out that with the Argentine media claiming the Red Devils are along with AC Milan and Real Madrid in following the player ‘with a lot of attention’, they say that in case those clubs do decide to go for the signing, they can ‘easily’ beat the Eagles. That’s why the Lisbon’s side’s situation is ‘delicate’ and ‘urgent’.
In fact, with River Plate only letting Enzo go for the price of his release clause, it seems like a matter of who’ll get there first.
Manchester United’s interest in Enzo was never reported as something big, but since the summer window is just about the start, perhaps there’s still a lot to happen in this chase for him.
