As we explained earlier on on Monday when covering an article about Manchester United’s alleged interest in Wissam Ben Yedder, a striker remains high on the list of priorities for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer.

Whether or not he’ll be able to get one is a different matter altogether, but the desire is there, and players like the aforementioned Frenchman or Victor Osimhen have been mentioned as potential candidates for the role.

And if Express.de in Germany are to be believed, we now have another one in Alassane Pléa.

According to the outlet, the former Nice forward is ‘said to be among a group of strikers that will be examined’ at Old Trafford for the upcoming season.

Wanting to become title challengers once again, United are looking to bolster their attack, and Pléa is ‘on their radar’ in Manchester.

Borussia Mönchengladbach have yet to receive an offer for the 27-year-old, whose contract keeps him in Germany until 2023, and there is no release clause to make things easier for interested clubs.

The Bundesliga side have made it clear there will be no need down their end to panic sell because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but Express explain that won’t stop big clubs from enquiring about their stars, like Pléa, Denis Zakaria or even Marcus Thuram.

It all sounds a bit flimsy, if you ask us, at least in terms of how actually interested Manchester United are, although it wouldn’t be surprising if the Frenchman, who scored eight goals in 22 league appearances this season, was on a list somewhere in Carrington.

Whether he’s high up on it, however, remains to be seen.
