Bild and SportBild have been pushing Timo Werner to Liverpool for over a year now.
They started off by explaining how Werner could fit into Jurgen Klopp’s system, although he’d obviously have a battle to get in the starting eleven. Then it changed to dropping continual hints about Werner fancying a move to Anfield if he leaves RB Leipzig this summer.
Recently it’s changed a little, with Liverpool’s interest in signing the striker being pushed a lot more. Last week’s edition of SportBild suggested Jurgen Klopp wants to meet the player before giving the final go-ahead, a desire which would be frustrated by the Covid-19 crisis.
Now Bild’s Christian Falk has been speaking to Passione Inter, and the final question of the interview asked him Inter Milan’s chances of signing Werner, something which was dismissed in favour of a move to Liverpool.
Falk responded: “Werner won’t go to Inter, there are already meetings scheduled with Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool is the big favourite to buy him in the summer.”
There’s likely to more on this from Germany this week, although everything regarding meetings, at least face-to-face, is somewhat on pause given the current situation.
