Liverpool are keen on Barcelona’s new star Gavi, but face competition from Manchester United for his signature.
That’s according to El Nacional, who say both sides are ‘interested’ in the player but may need to convince him of the move.
The newspaper explains that Barcelona are determined to get Gavi signed to a new deal at the Nou Camp, with him among the latest in a new list of promising players for the future.
He has been the ‘great sensation’ of the season so far, first making his debut with Barcelona and then the senior Spanish national team.
At only 17-years-old, he has a bright future ahead of him, and his football ‘deserves to be among the best’.
He’s already earned the trust of Ronald Koeman and Luis Enrique, but his ‘explosion’ means there are ‘many more eyes on him’, and there are already several interested parties.
PSG, Liverpool and Manchester United are ‘interested’ in the youngster and are not put off by his €50m release clause, which they consider ‘acceptable’ to secure an emerging talent.
They have work to do to convince the youngster, though, who prioritises remaining at Barcelona and ‘wants to succeed as a Blaugrana.’
That is why it is one of the urgent tasks at the club to get a new deal signed as Liverpool and Manchester United both ‘threaten’ to pay the clause and try to take him away.
