Manchester United have made contact to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Dan-Axel Zagadou.

The 22-year-old has entered his final six months of his contract and has so far not signed an extension with the Bundesliga side.

According to Fussball Transfers, BVB want to retain the defender beyond his current deal and both sides are willing to continue their association after this season. Meanwhile, there are other clubs who have turned the attention towards the centre-back and this includes the Red Devils.

It’s claimed the Old Trafford club have ‘approached’ the player’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, whose client lists also includes Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé, to take Marco Rose’s man on a free transfer.

United appointed Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager until the end of this season and he will then work as a consultant for two years.

Fussball Transfers state the former RB Leipzig manager is the ‘driving force’ behind the Premier League side chasing Zagadou. He tried to sign the player for RB Leipzig, before he left Paris Saint-Germain for Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

Without a renewal, the Frenchman will be available on a free transfer next summer, but FT explains the chances of Zagadou signing a new deal at Dortmund should not be excluded.
