Out of all the rumours linking Manchester United to centre-backs this summer, one that makes the most sense is the one involving Benoît Badiashile.
The young Monaco defender fits into the plans set in motion by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival of trusting young talent in the first-team, thus making him a better use of funds going forward than splashing €100m on one of his more experienced counterparts.
On top of that, Manchester United have been tracking Badiashile for a number of years now (dating back to 2017), and with the season now over (Europa League aside), they can focus on bringing players in the next couple of weeks.
TF1 journalist Julien Maynard brings the latest on the situation, claiming Bayer Leverkusen are in talks with Monaco regarding the 19-year-old’s transfer, with hope of sealing a deal.

However, they face some big competition from Manchester United, who are ‘already in talks with Monaco’ and Real Madrid, who recently approached the defender’s entourage.
Leverkusen recently put forward a €15m offer to test the waters, which was immediately dismissed by the principality side.
That means Manchester United will have to better that if they are to stand a chance at getting their man, although by how much remains to be seen.
