After selling Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan and allowing Alexis Sánchez to join the Nerazzurri on loan, Manchester United were looking to sign Mario Mandžukić in the summer.
However, the Red Devils failed to sign the Juventus player or any other forward in the last window.
The Croatian hasn’t featured for the Turin club this season and over the last few weeks, the 33-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.
TuttoMercatoWeb has a report on Paul Pogba and explains the midfielder is still keen on leaving the Premier League side. It is also claimed Juventus remain his first choice, despite interest from Real Madrid.
Mandžukić gets a mention in the same report and TMW reports United have ‘almost finalised’ a deal to bring the former Bayern Munich man in January.
The Italian website adds United have asked about Blaise Matuidi, but Juventus are working on handing him a new contract. However, Juve could offer Emre Can, who has been left out of their Champions League squad, just like Mandžukić.
TMW states Manchester United’s operation to sign Mandžukić will go ahead, irrespective of what happens with other deals.
