Manchester City are one of the clubs keeping tabs on Bologna star Mattias Svanberg. The 22-year-old joined the Serie A side from Malmö FF in 2018 and has been a regular in the league since the start of last season.

Operating in midfield, his impressive displays have not gone unnoticed and he’s caught the attention of AC Milan and Inter Milan, according to Calciomercato.

Apart from the two Milan clubs, the player has ‘several admirers’, ‘especially in the Premier League’, where Pep Guardiola’s side are ‘starting to get information’ about him.

The Sweden international’s current deal expires in 2023 and Bologna are hoping to extend it until 2025.

Martin Dahlin, the agent of Svanberg, is set to arrive in Italy and the representative’s ‘upcoming blitz’ will be ‘very useful to shed light’ on the midfielder’s plans for the future. His visit will also let Bologna become aware if there are any offers for their prized asset.

Indeed, Bologna want to tie the Swede to a new deal, with a view to letting him leave after this season. The Italian club want to make sure the player’s ‘immediate departure is averted’.

Calciomercato state Bologna don’t want to ‘deprive themselves of the precious player’ in January. However, a lot will depend upon the outcome of the meeting with his agent.

City, for now, are only ‘starting to get information’. The pressure will be more on Bologna if the English champions or another club decides to take firm steps to sign their star.
