Following reports from the English media claiming Manchester City are in talks with Bernardo Silva for a contract renewal, the Portuguese press now comes up with a response.
In a column written by journalist David Novo, Record says that despite the desire from the Premier League side to give the midfielder a new contract, they’re nowhere near a deal.
It’s claimed that the interest ‘exists and was communicated to the Portuguese player in the last week’, but that still doesn’t mean a formal offer was made.
Record brings more to that, explaining Bernardo Silva wanted to leave Manchester City last season, and ended up staying, which turned out to be great for him.
However, it’s pointed out that ‘anything can happen’ now. Novo says the renewal process is ‘not as advanced as it’s said in England’, especially because there’s no official offer on the table yet.
Now even though this story may make it sound like Bernardo Silva’s contract with Manchester City expires soon, his deal actually runs until 2025.
