With Manchester City looking closer to a deal for the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, it seems even the competition is starting to give up on the chase.
An update from journalist Rudy Galetti on Twitter claims Real Madrid are now ‘considering definitely withdrawing’ from the race for the centre-forward.
The reason for the La Liga giants to leave the competition is said to be the wage requests and the agent’s fee demands, which are ‘evaluated too high’.
However, that doesn’t seem to be a problem for Manchester City.
According to Galetti, ‘barring any unexpected surprises’, the Premier League side now have the ‘free path’ to sign Haaland.
This week, the very same journalist had already claimed the striker was ‘convincing himself’ of giving Pep Guardiola’s club a positive answer, as he appreciates the project and the ‘idea of the central role’.
His report at the time claimed that a contract worth €25m plus bonuses was already set, with Manchester City ready to pay Borussia Dortmund the demanded fee.
