Wednesday was an interesting day in the Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester City saga, as newspapers had very different views on the matter.

Corriere dello Sport, for example, thought Pep Guardiola’s side wouldn’t come back with a renewed offer following Napoli’s decision to turn down their latest bid, while La Repubblica stated the opposite, with a €70m + €5m bid on its way.

Thursday’s updates from the Italian media are equally as intriguing, since it’s explained Fali Ramadani, Koulibaly’s agent, will meet Aurelio De Laurentiis today in hope of getting something done.

Gazzetta dello Sport believe we’re in the ‘decisive days’ of the saga because Manchester City have placed ‘an ultimatum’ stating that if they don’t hear a ‘positive response’ by September 15th, they will move ‘onto other objectives’.

Their latest bid, according to the newspaper, ‘borders €65m’, but that ‘isn’t enough’ for Napoli’s owner.

Ramadani, who ‘now knows the president very well, will try to persuade him to accept the British offer’.

After all, he can use Allan as an example following Napoli’s decision to turn down €60m from Paris Saint-Germain only for him to head to Everton a year and a half later for less than half that up front.

Corriere dello Sport are in agreement with Gazzetta that Ramadani will meet De Laurentiis today to talk about Koulibaly, but it’s made clear Manchester City ‘must go further’ with their offer if they want to land the centre-back.
