Manchester City had a scout in attendance for Spain U19’s recent clash with Albania, with two Valencia players on the agenda for them and several other clubs.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who say ‘half of Europe’ had scouts at the game in which Valencia duo Jesús Vázquez and Cristhian Mosquera stood out.
They explain that Spain’s U19s are in the middle of a fight to qualify for the next European Championships, and their latest game saw them draw 2-2 with Albania last Wednesday.
That exciting affair, which saw four goals and a red card, was a frustrating one for the Spaniards, but there were two ‘outstanding’ performances from Vázquez and Mosquera.
The pair are currently regulars under José Bordalás at Valencia and have established themselves as ‘natural leaders’ in the national team as well.
Both were in ‘top form’ in the clash with Austria and even came close to sealing all three points with chances apiece at the end of the game.
Scouts from Manchester City were joined by the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Juventus and Dortmund, among others and the Valencia pair ‘had their full attention’ with impressive displays.
Their ‘physical and technical conditions’ did not go unnoticed, and there is a suggestion this won’t be the last time the big clubs come to watch them.
Fortunately, Valencia are well protected after tying both players to deals until 2025, and they are ‘very calm’ about the interest. Mosquera even has a €25m release clause in his current deal.
That’s the figure Manchester City would have to pay for him, and it’d presumably be a similar price for Vazquez as well.
The interest hasn’t gone that far as yet, but City’s scouts are keeping an eye on their development and were left impressed during their latest scouting mission.
