With his contract expiring in the summer of 2023, Leicester City have two choices when it comes to Youri Tielemans: either renew him or sell him in the upcoming transfer window.
The problem with the former is that they need to convince him that staying at the King Power Stadium is the right move for his career, while the latter could bring them in some money at the cost of losing a key piece of their squad.
If they do choose the second option, then they, at least, have the knowledge that some rich clubs are interested, with Foot Mercato in France claiming that both Manchester City and Real Madrid are keen on signing the Belgium international.
That’s because the Belgian fits into the project put together on the pitch by the Spanish manager, but they face competition from Real Madrid.
The Carlo Ancelotti managed side are the team Tielemans ‘dreams’ of, who have ‘ticked his name’ for the summer, knowing full well that the Casemiro-Toni Kroos-Luka Modric midfield won’t last forever.
As for Leicester City in all this, it appears they have ‘resigned themselves’ to seeing him leave this summer, and the asking price ‘could go down to €40m’.
That’s a relatively cheap deal for a player of the 24-year-old’s quality, who still has a great future ahead of him and plenty of room to improve in the process.
