Borussia Dortmund took Nnamdi Collins from Fortuna Düsseldorf last summer and included him in their U17 squad for this season.
The right footed centre-back has four goals and an assist in 19 appearances in the U17-Bundesliga West and it looks like his displays this season have drawn attention from elsewhere.
According to Bild, Manchester City have set their sights on the 16-year-old and they see the youngster as having a ‘lot of potential’, which is why they want to lure him to England.
It’s claimed the Premier League winners are ‘ready to pay’ €2m for the German defender. Apart from City, Chelsea are also ‘courting’ Collins. Bild doesn’t mention if the Blues are willing to submit a proposal for the teenager.
The Bundesliga side are aware of interest from other clubs and their idea is to protect Collins with a ‘similar model’ to what they used for 15-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko.
Dortmund are serious about retaining Collins and Bild adds it is demonstrated by the interference of Michael Zorc [director of football] in the case.
If Manchester City end up signing Collins, the defender will have to continue his development in the English club’s academy.
