Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo have revealed the rules foreign journalists are having to follow during Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City press conferences.
They claim that seven Spanish correspondents, working for 12 different outlets, are granted access, and from the seven journalists, only two questions are allowed.
Mundo Deportivo explain the reason for that is because Manchester City are avoiding the Spanish media from taking control of the clubs’ press conferences. That’s why they have to manage it by keeping more English journalists in the room.
Therefore, these Spanish journalists are forced to agree on two questions to be asked to the manager. One of them in Spanish and another in Catalan.
Mundo Deportivo actually criticise Manchester City’s actions, but just by publishing an article like this, it’s pretty clear the Spanish media aren’t happy about sending so many journalists when less than half of them will get the chance to get something out of the manager.
