Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg today shows up with some news on the future of Manchester City fullback João Cancelo.

On Twitter, the reporter starts by claiming that it’s ‘decided’ the player will leave Bayern Munich following his loan spell there.

It’s said the Bundesliga giants will not trigger the option they had to buy him from Manchester City.

Cancelo is unlikely to stay with the Premier League champions as well, and that’s why his future is pretty much open.

Plettenberg writes that the Portuguese international has ‘many options’ in the transfer window.

Even though Barcelona are said to be one of them, as they already held talks about his signing, a move to the Camp Nou is still considered unlikely, as they ‘can’t push’ due to their financial conditions.

Cancelo’s contract with Manchester City runs until 2027, so the club must work on a solution for his future. He’s valued by Transfermarkt at €60m, and the fee demanded by the Premier League champions should really dictate the number of clubs who’ll be able to engage in a chase for him this summer.
