Wolves are right now, inadvertently, causing problems for Real Betis.
The Spanish club have been working to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City and it’s been detailed repeatedly that the player wants the move, with there being optimism at various points that a deal could be done.
But, despite Zinchenko making it known via his agents he wants the Betis move, Estadio Deportivo explain things aren’t going smoothly.
That’s because Manchester City want the Spanish club to match what Wolves offered, put at £16m by Estadio. Zinchenko rejected the move to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, but the bid has made City feel they should be asking for the same amount from others.
This is simply too much for Betis, and Estadio say the offer of €12m, plus 20% of a future sale, is the very top of the Seville club’s reach.
They will ‘never reach’ the £16m figure.
With the Spanish transfer window closing on Friday there’s not a great deal of time to sort this one out.
