The Ikay Gundogan saga seems to be coming to an end. With the player not renewing his contract with Manchester City, Barcelona have reportedly managed to agree a deal which will take him to Spain.

Catalan outlet Sport writes that the La Liga side ‘convinced’ Gundogan with a three-year contract.

The first offer had been for a two-year deal with an optional third, but Barça then decided to put all the years in the same package and end any doubts the midfielder had about the deal.

It’s been a long time since Gundogan realised he may not stay at Manchester City, and that was enough for the Camp Nou side to convince him.

Sport highlights that Manchester City ‘pushed until the last moment’ to agree a new deal, but the player was convinced by Barça boss Xavi, who explained ‘the project and his role’ in the team.

Now it’s said that the La Liga giants consider the signing to be ‘practically done’, as he’s ‘very close’ to signing his contract with them, even though there was also some interest from Arsenal to keep him in the Premier League.
