Sergio Agüero’s contract expires on June 30th and Manchester City have confirmed their legend will leave the club as a free agent after this season.
On Monday, Catalan station Betevé reported the 32-year-old’s move to Barcelona is ‘imminent’ after his lawyers received a ‘draft of the contract’ from the Spanish giants.
Later that day, TyC in Argentina backed these claims and explained the striker is ‘very close’ to joining the La Liga side following ‘intense negotiations that took place in recent days’.
Mundo Deportivo have dismissed claims made by Betevé in Tuesday’s edition of the newspaper.
It’s claimed sources close to the Camp Nou have assured Mundo they have not sent a draft copy of the contract to the Argentine’s lawyers and there’s nothing agreed between Barca and the player.
In addition to this, the former Atlético Madrid man’s camp have also dismissed these reports.
Amid claims of Pep Guardiola’s attacker being very close to joining Barcelona, Mundo have both parties stating otherwise.
In other words, Agüero isn’t close to signing for Ronald Koeman’s side.
