Manchester City signed Eric García from Barcelona in 2017 and he made his first team debut last season, when he was limited to only cup competitions.

The centre-back made his Premier League debut in September and was then restricted to only EFL Cup matches, until Pep Guardiola started using him regularly since the start of last month.

García played the full 90 minutes in the Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb and also in his side’s EFL Cup win over Oxford United. He went on to feature in City’s last three matches, which includes starts against Sheffield United and Everton.

Sport claims despite being 18, he is considered to be part of the Premier League winners’ first team, instead of being considered as an academy player.

For months, the Etihad club have been in contact with the Spaniard’s entourage to renew his contract. The conversation over a new deal is expected to begin in the coming weeks and there’s belief at City that García will commit his future to the English champions.

The youngster last signed an extension at Manchester City in July 2018 and his current deal expires in 2022.
