On November 18th, we relayed news from Spain that Manchester City could make a move for Valencia’s Kang-in Lee.
The Citizens have had success with Ferran Torres, who arrived at Etihad from the La Liga side.
Lee, like Torres, climbed through the ranks of the Spanish club’s youth system before finding his way into the senior team.
Javi Gracia has handed the attacking midfielder six starts in the league, but he sat on the bench in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid.
According to La Razón, the South Korea international is ‘fed up’ with his situation at the Mestalla and the ‘little prominence that Javi Gracia is giving him’.
Manchester City get a mention and as per the report, Pep Guardiola’s side are named as a ‘suitor’ for Lee, who has a release clause of €80m.
La Razón state Valencia will make more money from the player’s sale in January than at the end of this season because he will only have a year left on his contract next summer.
Gracia’s side sold Torres, who had a €100m release clause, for €23m in August because of his contract situation. Valencia will be looking to avoid a similar situation with Lee and may look to cash in more from his sale in the winter market than next summer.
